Hi Everyone!
My gosh it has been so long since I posted a blog entry here. In a nutshell, I was renovating my house between November 2020 and November 2022… Working full time alongside it and also trying to manage three part-time jobs and being part of a Samba drumming band on top of all that.
Needless to say it was a bit much. I am now living in the house and enjoying the last two year’s worth of hard work. It’s so nice to have my own space again, as much as I loved living with my parents and how grateful I am they had me there so long when renovating!
The start of 2023 has been another whirlwind. I decided to get myself out there and enter the dating scene again… Then ended up meeting someone who is now my significant other. Not been in a relationship in a long time so this has been a big adjustment.
I’ve always been used to working so much so having a full time job and three part-time jobs on top of that didn’t phase me at all before. Working between fifty and sixty hours a week was normal to me and adding Samba Doc practice and gigs on top of that meant very little time for myself, my friends or my family.
So I decided to take the leap and hand my notice in for my full-time job at the end of April. Needless to say they didn’t want me to go, so a week later and lots of negotiating meant I’ve decided to go down to three days a week, no weekend shifts and all bank holidays off. I hope this will provide some work-life balance again and allow me to focus more on Tropic, USA Summer Camp and UW yet still cover the bills.
This week I’ve taken off to reset and get some bits done in the house as well and I’m so glad I made that decision. I’ve now got more time to focus on my new relationship, my friends and family again.
